Hormone Health
Your Hormone System:
The hidden world of chemical messengers in your body.
Hormones are vast in the body ranging from our sex hormones like Testosterone, Estrogen and Progesterone from our ovaries and testes that have many conversions in the Liver, to our Cortisol from our Brains and Adrenal Glands, to our Thyroid glands and human growth hormones.
How Dr. Ryan Helps with Hormones:
The fundamental difference of hormone “specialists” like Dr. Ryan compared to endocrinologists that help people with hormones.
Dr. Ryan helps people with hormone health by looking at information from Functional Medicine Labs like the DUTCH Test that is a Urine sample test and Saliva sample test, as well as Comprehensive Blood Work and from these types of tests he will review the results with you thoroughly, and what they indicate is going on in your body and help determine the best strategies to unlock and restore your health and vitality naturally through means of herbal or nutritional supplementation, whole-foods, lifestyle and bio-hacks. His principle driving philosophy is to unlock the health inside of you!
“An endocrinologist is a medical doctor who specializes in endocrinology, a field of medicine that studies conditions related to your hormones. An endocrinologist can diagnose endocrine conditions, develop treatment and management plans for them and prescribe medication.” An excerpt from the Clevland Clinic website.
Common Symptoms & Struggles Related to Hormones:
As your body’s chemical messengers and regulators, hormones must interact with all the other organ systems. This means hormones have a “domino effect” of changes they make on the entire body to maintain “balance”. Common symptoms people associate to hormones are weight gain or struggle to lose belly fat, decreased immune system, hair loss, fatigue, mood swings, insomnia, low libido, irregular menstruation, hot flashes, brain fog, acne, thyroid issues, metabolism, growth and development, sleep-wake cycle, reproduction, ad sexual function.
The domino effect of Hormone Imbalances has on other Systems in your body:
- Digestive System… The stomach and pancreas are two organs that are part of the digestive system as well as the endocrine (hormone) system. They have specialized cells that support digestion as well as produce hormones that regulate digestion and blood glucose levels Gut bacteria also produce a plethora of “hormone-like” compounds that enter your circulatory system through the blood.
- Nervous System…Three of the twelve endocrine glands are in the brain including the hypothalamus that links the hormones to the nervous system. The adrenal glands are also stimulated directly by the nervous system which produce adrenaline in a classic “fight or flight” response. Thyroid gland hormones are also directly linked to the brain and nervous system.
- Immune System… Hormones are one of many different ways our body regulates our immune system to make sure it isn’t overactive or underactive. Immune cells carry receptor sites for many different hormones including growth hormones.
- Growth & Development…this includes the growth and formation of our bones. Throughout life from our childhood, our proper growth and development is linked to hormones, genetics, and nutrition. As adults growth hormones play a key role in our body processes. Vitamin D has been studied immensely in recent years and is classified as a hormone for it ability to regulate bone health and many other areas of our nervous system and entire body.
